San Mateo City Councilmember
Councilmember Eric Rodriguez was first elected to serve on San Mateo's City Council in November 2017. He had previously served as Vice-Chair of San Mateo’s Planning Commission. A list of his internal/external committee and liaison assignments can be found HERE.
Professionally, Eric is the co-founder and CEO of a small educational media company, HowToMedia Inc., located in San Mateo. Prior, Eric worked as a tech executive for various Silicon Valley companies including Yahoo, Google, Viant, and others. He earned his MBA from Stanford University in 2005 and his BS degree from U.C. Berkeley in 1998 (Go Bears!). He also graduated from the San Mateo Region Leadership Program in 2016 and the City of San Mateo’s City Services Academy in 2013.
Eric lives in San Mateo’s Aragon neighborhood with his wife, Shirley, and his son, Tyler. In his spare time, he enjoys coaching his son’s various sports teams, hanging out in Central or Beresford Park, reading historical nonfiction, and describing himself in the 3rd person.
